As of next week, the online magazine that I write for, Christ and Pop Culture will be moving all of it’s content to a new platform. Not necessarily big news, except that this new platform is Patheos‘s Evangelical Channel. Essentially, what this means is more people will be reading CaPC and we will actually have funding to pay our feature writers for their time!
Patheos has a vision for their Evangelical Channel to become the online voice of the Evangelical movement. While that may be a bit lofty, they do have a solid, number specific vision;
We have reached 1.2 million pageviews a month without budget. With a small budget built from partnerships and sponsorships, I believe we could reach 3 million by next September. This would make us the largest evangelical commentary site on the internet by far, and would give us the reach we need in order to produce the kinds of positive changes we envision here.
What This Means for GCC
Not too much really. I will be contributing about three short articles per week to Patheos at Christ and Pop Culture and I will be writing feature posts monthly, so the effects can only be good.
However, I will being posting more links to that site on GCC and plugging my Patheos posts here more than I previously have. I think this will be a good way to bridge all of my blogging and writing, as well as support the visions of both Patheos and CaPC, while continuing to have a vision for GCC.
Also, I realize content has been sparse here, and a lot of that is due to the fact that I am getting married in two weeks, a full-time student, part-time worker and writing for other publications. So to compensate for that, I will begin posting shorter articles, media and reposts, along with my longer articles (that y’all seem to enjoy). And as you have noticed, the blog has gone through some serious format changes that hopefully helps streamline the site and make content more aesthetically appealing.
So thank you all for reading so faithfully. I am excited for the new opportunities presented with Patheos, but be assured, GCC is my first blog-love.
